How the node works

A working reference for daemons, remote wallets, buying a node, and the Monopoly loop.

01 · Overview

One chain, many machines

Monero is a peer-to-peer currency. The chain is stored and served by nodes — machines running monerod. Wallets are only a window onto that chain. If the window has no building behind it, nothing confirms and nothing moves.

02 · What a node does

Keep, answer, broadcast

A node keeps a copy of the ledger, answers wallet scans, and pushes signed transactions onto the network. Every send, receive, and sync hits a daemon. Remote-node traffic is the product.

03 · Buying a node

Stop borrowing the square

You can run your own node for free and keep your traffic private. You can also buy and operate nodes as a service. Other wallets connect to you. That is rent. We bought three German machines and we are not done.

04 · Connecting a wallet

Point the window at a daemon

In Cake, Feather, Monerujo, or the official GUI, set a custom remote node. Public listings live on monero.fail. Our owned set is tracked on the Explorer.

05 · Monero Monopoly

Fees buy every square

Plan: take every fee the nodes earn and spend it on the next node. No dividend. Germany first, then every country filter on the public list. See Fees for the loop.

06 · Safety

Trust is the whole game

A remote node can see that you are using Monero, when you broadcast, and which decoys you pick if you are careless. Running your own node, or connecting over Tor, is still the strongest move. This operator sells access. It does not replace a node you control.
